HAUNTING at the WORM CREEK OPERA HOUSE
October 2020
While cleaning up one October night after a movie, Anthony was the last person left in the Worm Creek Opera House. Just as he was putting his broom away, he heard a creaking door, slowly screeching until suddenly “BANG” it slammed shut. He dropped the broom and turned in a hurry, “Hello?” He started hearing a chattering noise only to realize it was his teeth, he was surprised he could hear that over the sounds of his knocking knees. He slowly worked his way to the door, hesitating whether to turn out the light as he exited the broom closet.
Thunder “Crackle…Rumble” Lightning strikes just out front in the street. Light shoots through the front windows lighting up the entire lobby. “What’s that?” Out of the corner of his eye he thought he saw a shadow move across the wall. Suddenly a loud “Shriek” like a woman screaming. Yes, that scream was Anthony and he was never heard from again.
This is why in the month of October, when the Opera House is Haunted, you can hear the shrieking screams of a woman…or maybe, just maybe, that’s Anthony.

In fact, you could say it is two plays going on at the same time.

October 23, 24 & 26 2020 at 7pm
Miss Dale, an English teacher and drama coach is putting on the High School production of the vampire play Dracula. Besides Dracula and his brides the other characters are the student director, props and make-up girls, the stage manager and the student in charge of set construction and more. During rehearsal we are introduced to Obie Adams who is hiding from Miss Dale because he lost his homework.
Obie has quite the imagination. He takes us on a crazy ride telling everyone about how he lost his homework at Mortimer Crank’s mansion. A place of monsters and creatures and all sorts of other spooky fun.
Speaking of spooky fun, before the play, there is a short trip through a Haunted Maze that will take you to your seats from 6 to 6:45.
AUDITIONS
Wednesday, August 5 6-9pm & Saturday, August 8 9am-Noon
Come prepared to have fun and read lines of the parts you believe you would be interested in. Those parts are listed here.
Many parts with great lines for both teens and adults are available as well as parts playing monsters in the Maze or being creatures that will help with ushering from the street to the seat.
We will also need volunteers for those who wish to work behind the scenes, help with Set Construction, Lighting and Sound, Make-up and Costumes.
We would like to make this a community event and get as many people involved who would like having fun with the experience of the Theatre Arts. This includes people who have never been involved in theatre before but have always wanted to.
